The purpose of the Shoulder Pain Study is to see if the study drug can help reduce shoulder pain for people with glenohumeral osteoarthritis (OA) or shoulder adhesive capsulitis (AC).

What is the study drug?
The study drug is FX006, an investigational corticosteroid injection with an active ingredient of triamcinolone acetonide. Corticosteroids typically are used to relieve pain by reducing inflammation and swelling.

What is an investigational drug?
Investigational means a drug has not been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or other regulatory authorities to use outside of research studies. The study drug used in the RANGE study is already approved for knee osteoarthritis but is considered investigational in this study because it has not been approved to use for shoulder osteoarthritis or frozen shoulder.

How is the study drug designed to work?
FX006 is an extended release formulation of a corticosteroid. This means it is designed to keep the active ingredient triamcinolone acetonide in the joint longer than injections of other forms of triamcinolone acetonide.

Have other people taken the study drug?
FX006 is already approved and used for knee osteoarthritis pain. The RANGE study will see if FX006 may also help with shoulder osteoarthritis and frozen shoulder pain. Additionally, Flexion Therapeutics is conducting clinical research studies for use in other joints.
